Pepper is one of the most common flavours in the cuisine of São Tomé and Príncipe, in fish and meat dishes and in calulu. This local pepper comes from Santa Catarina, on the west coast of São Tomé island, and is grown naturally by small producers.
How to enjoy it
- Freshly ground over grilled fish, sauces and stews.
- To add a Santomean touch to everyday dishes.
- Store in a tightly closed jar in a dry, dark place.
A purchase that stays in the communities
PTRS connects visitors with producers: your order is passed on to the producer and 100% of the sales value belongs to local producers. You can collect it at PTRS or directly from the producer.
