The Homem da Capa Trail is a full-day walk through the rainforest of Obô Natural Park, the protected area covering much of the centre and south of São Tomé island. It is an experience for nature lovers who enjoy walking at an unhurried pace and getting to know the land through the voices of those who live there.
What you will experience
- Dense tropical forest, with tall trees, ferns and climbing plants.
- The biodiversity of the Obô: São Tomé and Príncipe is home to many species found nowhere else in the world, especially birds and plants.
- A local guide’s explanations about plants, traditional uses and stories of the forest.
Who it is for
For walkers with some fitness: it takes 5 to 7 hours, in groups of 2 to 12 people, from age 10. The pace is adapted to the group.
Why book with PTRS
The walk is led by guides from local associations. Part of what you pay stays in the communities around the Park, who also help protect it: PTRS trained community guardians for Obô Natural Park under the ECOFAC 6 project.
Practical information
- Hiking shoes with good grip (trails can be wet)
