About PTRS

Who we are

The Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Platform (PTRS) was founded in 2015 as a 100% Santomean NGO, with the mission of promoting a responsible, sustainable and inclusive model of tourism in São Tomé and Príncipe.

Since its creation, PTRS has carried out a range of training, awareness-raising and community engagement activities, working directly with local communities in different regions of the country, with a particular focus on environmental conservation, biodiversity protection and tourism as a driver of local development.

PTRS has thus become a key organisation in strengthening sustainable tourism in São Tomé and Príncipe, encouraging the active participation of local communities and contributing to the conservation of the country’s natural and cultural heritage.
